What Other AAUs Are Doing
Several Universities across the nation have created online modules in order to disseminate information and enhance an understanding of the complex issues associated with the academic hiring process.
University of Virginia, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, CUNY Hunter College, North Carolina State University, and University of Florida offer online search committee training modules. Cornell University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and University of Wisconsin-Madison offer live workshops with role-play videos.
MIT houses a collection of videos on institutional diversity and equity on its website, while the many institutions with NSF ADVANCE grants, including Rutgers, have dedicated offices and website portals to provide tools, research, and resources to faculty. A good number of schools—UCLA, Michigan State, Washington State, UCSD, Purdue, and Rutgers—are at the leading edge of universities seeking to use online interactive modules for faculty search committee training.
